Peppermint Technology, the award winning legal technology innovator, triumphed once again in the prestigious industry KnowList awards. This time it was Peppermint’s Founder and CEO, Arlene Adams, who scooped the award for Leadership. Last year Peppermint was awarded the top prize for Technology Innovation as well as being named as Microsoft 2013 UK Partner of the Year.
Arlene Adams founded Peppermint just 4 years ago having recognised a gap in the legal software market brought about the Legal Services Act. She foresaw the market changes would drive demand for modern, client centric, legal technology.
The legal software market has remained largely stagnant for 20 years and Adams saw a great opportunity for a software company to deliver long needed innovation to the UK legal market.
During the height of the recession Adams raised capital investment, sought the support of the world’s largest technology company Microsoft, and inspired some of the industry’s best people to join her in building Peppermint. The fast growing legal tech company now employs 40 staff and has 20 law firm customers.
Peppermint has fundamentally changed the UK Legal market. Not only does Peppermint offer law firms a new choice, based on industry standard Microsoft technology, but the arrival of Peppermint has driven other legal software companies to respond and invest. Arlene’s actions have spurred a level of investment and innovation across the entire market at a time when technology plays an increasingly strategic and competitive role in law firms.
Commenting on her win, Adams said, "I’m delighted to be recognised for the achievements of Peppermint and it is a real endorsement of what you can achieve when you bring like-minded people together. It’s great to be part of a team who are pioneering new innovation that will change the face of legal services forever."
